So I am afraid, Mann re will get the axe ;). Chitralekha has such lovely songs even if the movie was kind of strange.

Avahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17274222598587327676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-74364407832864546852016-03-22T10:35:59.412+05:302016-03-22T10:35:59.412+05:30A well- balanced selection of popular-till-date an...A well- balanced selection of popular-till-date and not-so-remembered songs.
Next post also should be quite interesting.Ashok M Vaishnav - અશોક વૈષ્ણવની ફુર્શતની પળોhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03841782788353439253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-21778213510220050712016-03-06T07:52:13.549+05:302016-03-06T07:52:13.549+05:30I concur with your estimation of Pradeep - relativ...I concur with your estimation of Pradeep - relatively goodlooking, fit the royal roles quite well, and did a reasonably competent job of doing what he was asked to do - which wasn't much. :)

But yes, the songs! Where would so many actors of that era be without the songs?

From your list, Pao chhoo lene do,Ye kisne geet chheda, Ye mausam rangeen sama and Aapne yaad dilaya toh mujhe yaad aaya are personal favourites. One song that I particularly like is Manre tu kaahe na dheer dhare from Chitralekha, but that is from 1964, so perhaps it will be there in your next instalment.Anu Warrierhttp://anuradhawarrier.blogpost.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-27687619241547091562016-03-05T21:44:14.529+05:302016-03-05T21:44:14.529+05:30Madhu, I was aided by the filmography of Pradeep K...Madhu, I was aided by the filmography of Pradeep Kumar. I check out the name of each film and take a look at the songs of the film and see if there is a good one to be posted. On my own I wouldn't be able to pick more than two or three. Thank God for all these aids.Avahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17274222598587327676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-46939412312294059482016-03-05T21:42:56.576+05:302016-03-05T21:42:56.576+05:30Haan Harvey, even when I was selecting the songs, ...Haan Harvey, even when I was selecting the songs, I was surprised that there were so many by Ravi.

Avahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17274222598587327676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-29022277249499806112016-03-05T21:41:48.191+05:302016-03-05T21:41:48.191+05:30Thanks Harvey. I was wondering if ANYONE had seen the film :) Kahin Apsara to nahi dekhi?

Not Surma Bhopali re... Shakila Bano Bhopali. I also wonder that as she had a lovely husky voice. I was also wondering if she was related to Asad Bhopali. Or maybe they both belonged to Bhopal.Avahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17274222598587327676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-59634370059850177212016-03-05T09:39:15.594+05:302016-03-05T09:39:15.594+05:30I have to admit the only two songs from your list ...I have to admit the only two songs from your list which immediately clicked - without my even thinking about it - were Paaon chhoo lene do and the one where he's paired with Saeeda Khan (my memory's gone to the dogs - it's slipped from my mind already!). All the others, even from a couple of films I've seen, I couldn't remember without listening to them. Nice selection, Ava. Will be looking forward to the next instalment. :-)Dustedoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00614804804521341182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2988261872663157660.post-36327836920138251382016-03-05T02:26:24.496+05:302016-03-05T02:26:24.496+05:30Lovely post, Ava!

Isn't it funny that 4 song sof the 10 are by Ravi.
When i read the opening words of the song, I thought, I didn't know it, but when i clicked it, of course, I knew it. Just didn't know it ws filmed on PK.
Also keep on forgetting that ye mausam rangeen sama was filmed on him. When I was small, i used to sing, 'ruk to me jaoon' as 'muft me jaoon'.
hai zindagi itni haseen was new for me.
ek manzil rahi do is such a beautiful song, after all it is a Madan Mohan song!
I remember watching Rakhi as a kid. It fascinated me to see Ashok Kumar and Waheeda sitting together on a bench in front of a table like in school near a private tutor. They were poor as kids, so they didn't get to visit a school, which they make up leeway by getting a private tutor after they get rich due to Ashok's hard work. Pradeep Kumar's character is their childhood friend, who gets lost and this song is sung after their reunion.
Wonder wh they didn't let Surma Bhopali sing for herself in 'milte hi nazar'
Looking forward to the next instalment of Pradeep Kumar songs.harveyhttps://harveypam.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
